It seems a common failing in SHTF literature to tell the whole story of the disaster and none of the recovery. I suppose the former is more exciting, but the recovery is the more difficult. “Alas Babylon”, “Patriots”, “Lights Out” and this story follow this pattern.

Yep. Lights Out is pretty darn good IMO, although it needs an editor really badly.
