Not my fault

Sorry about the lack of posting yesterday, everyone. I got caught up in a Bermuda Triangle of sorts. Let me explain.

After waking up late from my turkey slumber to teach a class (my TA was mysteriously absent the day after Thanksgiving to cover), I had to catch a flight to Los Angeles so that I could go see my nephew play Notre Dame.

Yes, David was correct to guess that John David Booty is a reltaion of mine, though just as I am called JT at family gatherings, we call him JD.

So I catch my plane, which landed in Las Vegas to drop off over half the passengers (I usually fly straight in, but not today), but we never got airborne again due to something mechanical. So there were 200 plus people, all trying to rent cars or catch a connecting flight out of LAS/McCarran, which turned out to be a fools errand. Luckily, I was able to connect to a rather lovely acquaintance of mine who was able to loan me one of her cars.

Which is where I spent most of my Saturday morning hours; on the road. I finally arrived in the mid-morning, giving me just enough time for a couple hours of sleep before heading to L.A. Memorial Coliseum. I get to my seat only to find that I am not sitting behind the USC sideline, but behind the Notre Dame team. I was disheartened a bit, but as the game warmed up, I found that not all was lost; I was sitting behind the ND Cheerleading Squad.

Long story short, I was recognized and ended up handing out two scholarships later that evening. What is a Masters in Bio-Engineering worth if you have to live with an under-developed posterior?

I’ve got some good photos of the game, though I doubt that anyone here is interested in them. I do believe that you all are more interested in my post-game pics.

Like this one (sorry about the quality, but I didn’t know I would need to bring my waterproof camera to LA).

Oh, I spoke to JD after the game to thank him for the ticket. When I told him where I had been seated, he let me know that said placement was on the direct orders from the USC Admin – they demanded that if I were coming to the game that I was to be as far away from the USC Cheerleaders as possible. Something about me being a corrupting influence?

I told him I didn’t mind and congratulated him.

And because David guessed correctly as to my whereabouts, here is a pic of Miss Clarissa, my friendly LV friend with the car. It is from her student days in the dorms of OTI. Which reminds me, I do need to update my album when I thank her most graciously later today.

We’ll call this one “The Booby Prize”.
