Yet they claim that they’re so damn smart

I’ve seen the eco-socialists pushing California’s Proposition 87 on a few of the left wing blogs, and I must say, for people who claim they’re so much more intelligent than the average American, they have not a single clue as to how the world goes around.

From what I’ve read, the State of California will be setting and/or increasing fees paid by the oil companies to drill, and that the money from the fees, guestimated by the proponents of Prop 87 at $4 Billion, would then be diverted to ‘alternative engergies’.

What none of those I’ve see write about it, and this includes the fanatics of the ‘sticking it to Big Oil’ philosphy, ever say is how much these fees will increase the price at the pump.

Apparently, none of them has ever taken an economics class or learned from some other third party that all costs of production get passed along to the consumer.

What this new ‘fee structure’ boild down to is a roundabout tax by the government on the end user to pay for their fantasy of making cars run on magic pixie dust.

Holy purple twinkies! I hope this thing dies a swift death at the ballot box. And while I know a few intelligent people in CA, I don’t know that there are enough of them still in the state to make that happen.

  1. No doubt Prop 87 will increase gasoline prices:

Why Prop 87 Raises Gas Prices

However, I don’t live in California so it doesn’t affect me. Besides, I favor conservation measures, and I believe higher gasoline prices will spur more conservation. I just don’t believe that the proponents are engaging in truth in advertising.
