Why Hasn’t Anybody Designed a Real Gun Like This Yet?

From the Geek with a .45:

Take a good look:go to an internal hammer positioned very close to the cylinder (and non-Nerf, self-propelled ammunition) and you could move the grip and trigger up to be either exactly even with or even ABOVE the line of the bore. Perceived recoil would drop significantly.

We are all such gun geeks!

Looks to me like the design could be copied in metal to shoot 3″ .410s….

It’s an intriguing idea, but would you want the center of balance to be so far up ahead? Also, the overall length would be a lot longer for the same barrel length.

But maybe if it was a lightweight snubnose 38…. hmm…

The Mateba family of autorevolvers is simalar to some of the features you suggested. These weapons fire from the 6 o’clock position, and actually use the recoil to index the cylinder and cocl the hammer for the next shot.

In response to Rivrdog, I wish there were more .410 chamberings in modern revolvers, the only ones Ive seen are those Bersa Thunder 5’s, and there are supposedly some really serious quality control issues there.

    Taurus just brought out a .45LC/.410 revolver…
