I’m scratching my head here

For those not here for previous discussions on the topic of abortion, please see the disclaimer below the fold.

As I understood it, the whole position of the left for abortion is that it is a “Women’s Right to Choose” (also known as “Women’s Reproductive Rights”).

Now with the South Dakota bill that was signed and passed, making the majority of abortions illegal, the pro-abortion folks are on the defensive and are filing their lawsuits, which is exactly what the SD Lawmakers wanted. So off to court they will go.

But one of the craziest things I saw when I returned to the blogosphere this week was seeing Atrios at Eschaton endorsed and then Kos at the dailyKos linking and agreeing the postition of giving men the right to say whether or not the birth will happen:

It’s time for more men to understand that getting rid of legal abortion increases by quite a lot the chance that one drunk evening will lead to 18 years of child support payments.

They are, of course, doing this to try and rally more support for the pro-abortion viewpoint, but with the last thirty-plus years of hearing from the left that “It is a Woman’s Choice”, I got somewhat confused at their choice of argument.

My standpoint is as follows: I don’t like it, so guess what, I’m not going to have one. It is not my position in life to tell others how to live. If you want to try that out, go for it. Just don’t bitch and moan when your single parent population increases over their already large numbers and even more of your tax dollars are wasted.

Couple of observations: the Men of the Left picked a strange time to end both their support of radical feminism and hypocrisy attached thereto, but good for them.

As any divorced male can tell you, the only thing more sure than death or taxes is child support.

    Nuff said.
