Results: September Rifle e-Postal Match

At long last, I present to you the winners of last month’s edition of the internet firearms competition sensation that is sweeping the nation (or something).

First off, I’d like to thank all those who participated in September’s match and I hope that they’ll come and play with us again in the October match, that is conveniently laid out in the post below.

Since I’m the non-discriminatory type I accepted just about any entry in any class that was sent in. However, I will only be presenting awards in the classes that had sufficient contestants; four or more, to be exact.

The whole of the entries are listed, in class, below the fold, with links to their websites, if applicable.

While I hesitate to use the phrase “Everyone who competed is a winner, it is the truth in this case, since the goal here is to test and improve your shooting skills and I am impressed with everyone who took the opportunity to use my humble targets to test themselves.

And the winners in the competing classes are:

Winner: Iron Sight Pistol – 25yds

Merle Dan Wesson .357Mag – 85 1X

Winner: Iron Sight Rifle – 50yds

Firehand M1 Garand – .30-06 – 91 0X

Winner: Optical Sight Rifle (non-magnifying) – 50yds

Mr. Completely Hi-Point 9mm – Red Dot – 93 1X

Optical Sight (magnifying) – 100yds

Freddy B R77 .308 – 97 4X (minor bit of confusion here, Con UAW Guy’s friend actually shot the winning target – (Correction Dept.)

You guys will be getting your certificates in the email shortly.

Honorable Mentions go to:

Most Entries Award: Merle 13 entries (derived from two days at the range)

Super Trooper Award: Joe Huffman for kicking ass and taking names all while fighting the elements to put my “Distance is Your Friend class to the test. You need to take a look at the entry on his blog. Joe is not a ‘Fair Weather Rifleman’ by any definition.

While I had intended this to be a rifle competition due to the fact that Mr. Completely is in charge of the Pistol Comps, I was quite glad to see people take the spirit of this task to heart and put their handguns into it. Just the fact that people used whatever they had available makes this fella all warm and fuzzy inside.

“Run What Ya Brung is an old hot rodder term, but in the case of defending your home from those of ill will, it is the truth.

You can dream of being able to hold the fort with any firearm in existence, but if you don’t own it, you’d better be good with what you have.

Thanks again to all who joined us in this test of skill. I hope you all take the opportunity with October’s match.

Thanks for putting on the match. Great fun, and it encourages me to get out to the range and shoot some stuff that otherwise tends to stay in the gun safe.

  2. Rivrdog says:

Well, if you and I and Mr. Completely show up at Coupeville on All Hallows Eve-eve, then we have a class, right?
