Howdy all! I got hit with a music meme so The Soundboard will be two days early this week. I’ve got four days to burn up the rest of my bandwidth for the month and I’ll be sliding a few music tracks into this post, so if you swing by RNS Thursday or Friday and see we’re out of juice, you’ll know why. Last week’s track is now off the server and the track I had already selected for this week will be shown next Thursday.
The meme came from Ben the Reasonable Nut, whom I’ll thank very kindly and will remember the next time I get whapped with one of these things.
Q1 – How much music do I have?
A1 – You can’t be serious? I really don’t have that much time, dude. Here’s a pic of my ‘Heavy Rotation’ rack, which is complete disarray at this point and ready for me to refresh.
That doesn’t include the 40-60 discs I travel with.
Q2 – What was the last CD I bought?
A1 – According to Amazon, the last CD on my last order was the Dead Kennedys: Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death which was a gift for the wife, but according to my receipt pile it was Haiducii: Dragostea Din Tei, a Romainian euro-pop single.
Q3 – What am I listening to right now?
A3 – My Afghan Whigs mix disc I have titled “The Greg Dulli School of Dating� (if you don’t know the Whigs you might not get the joke).
Q4 – Five songs that mean a lot to me?
A4 – Only five? You mean just this week, right? OK (all songs are downloadable),
My Curse – Afghan Whigs. The Whigs had Marcy Mays fill in on vocals for this one, but it could have been sung by Dulli with nearly the same effect.
Analog Kid (Live Chicago 1998) – Rush. Guess Why.
The Caves of Altamira – Steely Dan. One of their best, in my opinion.
Gotta get through this – Daniel Bedingfield. A recent rediscovery.
Save a Prayer – Duran Duran. This one is a memory from way back.
One Caress – Depeche Mode. I bet you I could still sing this one.
Oops, that’s six. My bad. No, I haven’t been counting very long.
