I was going to post this yesterday, but the London Underground and bus bombings kind of knocked the wind out of this tale’s sails.
But I fear not, because it’s subject was made exponentially better by remarks made in the wake of the terror strike.
Last week I got into a hopeless discussion at NW Blogger, Dave Neiwert’s site, Orcinus, over a meaningless vinyl window sticker. I always try my best to stay away from those viper’s nests, but sometimes seeing the hatred erupt is just priceless and I must enter. I even got into it via email with a couple of his readers since I don’t hide my addy in Haloscan like a lot of his other commenters.
The subject was thus “The Right Wing is full of hatred and wants to eliminate all political opposition via violence while the lefties are fuzzy little bunnies who wouldn’t dream of hurting a fly�.
Basically, the right gets saddled with every nutjob white supremacist and murderous homophobe, but the left gets to deny any connection to folks like the Weather Underground, ALF/ELF, etc, even though it is virulently left wing organizations that fund such acts.
When you point out either the connection between their side of the political aisle or their dehumanizing remarks about folks on the right, especially the non ‘uber-rich-right-wingers’ being ignorant sheep because they’re too stupid to vote for ‘what is good for them’, the conversation goes all to hell and you may get to learn a few new insults.
Like I said above, I found this comment over at typical leftie Amy’s site, blogAmy, a bit disturbing. She is talking about Bernard Goldberg and his new book ‘100 People Who Are Screwing Up America: (and Al Franken is #37)’.
Speaking of “dumb and vicious” people, Bernard Goldberg, perhaps you were looking in a mirror? He’s on Scarborough promoting his book where it’s completely obvious where his bias is…and he’s talking about celebrities who act like they know what they’re talking about because they’re…on television and in the press.
Imagine that. Nothing more needs to be said about this schmuck. If he’s looking to uncover the types of people who are “messing up America”, he doesn’t even have to look past his eyelids.
The current atmosphere didn’t just happen with a complete lack of innocence and sweet rhetoric from the likes of him, and his host, all of FAUX NEWS, just about everybody in the Bush administration and a great deal of senators who also seem to find it irresistable to spout off whatever is on the top of their mind and agenda every time they get a mic and a camera pressed to their face.
If I had my druthers, they would all cease to exist and the country as a whole would sigh such a great big sigh of relief the entire universe would expand and contract.
As you can tell, she most likely doesn’t care for the book.
Also, you can tell she knows nothing about the properties of the universe. If it were to expand and contract, with our Milky Way galaxy being on the edge of it, she would also cease to exist. But that is a discussion for another time.
She wishes, quite blatantly, that any right wing pundit who has the nerve to point out any goings on that they don’t like in the world today, would just “Cease to Exist�.
How nice.
Now take a look at what she has to say about the splodydoping, child-molester loving jackasses who murdered at least 37 people in London yesterday,
I can’t really find the appropriate words to describe the bastards who would do such a thing as has been done in London.
Shouting and violence will get attention, but it doesn’t make people hear what you have to say. In fact, it just makes them hate you and close their ears and minds to whatever point it is that you’re trying to get across. That applies to every extremist group and persons of every stripe who seek to use violence and extreme acts to terrorize a populace in order to exact revenge or get attention. There is no ideology, belief system, dogma or whatever, that is worth taking the lives of innocent people. I know of no religion that endorses or condones such acts.
Can’t we just get along? Apparently not. These are very dismal days indeed.
Her stance:
Terrorists – Can’t we all just get along?
Republicans/Conservatives – You need to cease to exist!
And these folks want us to ‘compromise’ with them in Congressional matters?
With rhetoric like this coming straight from their party chairman’s mouth?
With people who don’t understand about extremist Islam being a religious sect that DEMANDS the taking of innocent life?
I am so glad that they lost in 04.
