Count ANY Vote: Part Davdtsat Vosem

In Conclusion

As you have probably heard, the Washignton State Superior Court Judge denied the Repubs petition to toss out last November’s gubernatorial election yesterday.

Eh, I figured.

What I didn’t really figure on was Dino Rossi giving a concession speech yesterday afternoon. Wow.

The left is freaking out about how he talked a little smack about the Washington State Supreme Court when he decided not to appeal it to their halls. Some are saying that they are a pretty non-partisan group and some are even saying that they’re ruled by a right wing majority. These people are on some serious hallucinogens. I do not think that a conservative majority would have ruled that beating someone to death is legally only manslaughter as long as you say that you ‘didn’t mean to actually kill them’.

Some are even going so far as to suggest that sanctions and grievances be brought onto the Repubs and their lawyers.

Nothing like a little retribution to make the Dems feel like they have a real mandate in this state.

But enough with the smack talkin’, here’s the skinny.

The Repubs were able to get the conspiracy to defraud by King County elections officials entered into evidence. When they made up their numbers to give to the Secretary of State, they officially screwed up. Oddly enough, they all still have their jobs. Must be magic!

The judge threw out 1678 votes from the total number of votes cast and took four votes off of Rossi’s total and one vote from the total of the libertarian candidate. So officially, Rossi now lost by 133 instead of 129 and the 1678 votes that were thrown out are not reflected in the totals listed for each candidate.

In thirty years some kid will be adding up the individual candidates vote totals and have to find the addendum to figure out why his numbers don’t match.

So ends the 2004 Washington State Governor’s election. In fucking June of 2005.

We made it to Part 28 in this series, by far the longest running series here at RNS. While I am not happy with the results, I am satisfied to know that the entire country now knows of just how truly twisted the elections are in this backwater corner burg of the union and I am also satisfied in my knowledge that statewide public support for Gregoire is virtually nil and about the only folks who currently support her are the hardcore left wing loonies who truly believe that Republicans have horns hiding under their hair.

I am also satisfied that the Repubs took it as far as it could go and that Gregoire is going to hit the pavement hard in 2008, after which her political avenue will reach a dead end.

And unless Gregoire tries to extend her “mandate and tries to silence all opposition, I’ll be right here laughing.
