RNS Quote of the Day: 04/29/07

At a time when our entire country is banding together and facing down individualism, the Patriots set a wonderful example, showing us all what is possible when we work together, believe in each other, and sacrifice for the greater good.

RNS Quote of the Day: 04/26/07

Sorry about yesterday. I got out of work, got home and got to packing. Forgetting the time, I finally got to bed at around noon and, seeing as how I woke up at 1700 the day before, didn’t feel up to blogging.

But here we go with the companion quote to go with Tuesday’s QotD

The people who work against your gun rights are basically saying to you, “The right of the criminal to rip you off, rape and kill you shall not be infringed.” And they wonder why we’re a bit testy

Editor , KABA LIBERTY ADVOCATE, Friday, July 30, 2001

Now, David and I will be gone until next Monday at Boomershoot. We should arrive at my house on Monday eveneing, at which time I’ll begin uploading the videos. Pictures should be up Tuesday, Vids by Wednesday and Thursday.

In the mean time, I have a series of quotes that will be posted for the next four days, all with the same theme. You will not like them, but you should stop by and read them just the same.

See you all on Tuesday! Wish us luck! You all be safe out there too.

It’s Easy to Agree With Dave

The hard parts is, when he’s eviscerating someone like this, keeping the blood and gore off your shoes.

What else can I say?

Even Atrios liked it, and I quote: “Oh My God. Oh My God. Oh My God.”

Better clean those pants, Eschaton-guy.

You’re welcome for the propaganda, citizen

One of the biggest jokes the left likes to play is when they cry, bitch, moan and wail about the “Right Wing Corporate Media”.

The same media that howls for gun control after like what happened at Virginia Tech.

Or, the same media that takes it’s cues from AlGore

Al Gore has complained that the media are biased against the inconvenient truth of global warming. “I believe that is one of the principal reasons why political leaders around the world have not yet taken action,” Gore told a “Media Ethics Summit” at Middle Tennessee State University back in February. Gore lectured journalists that any coverage of views opposed to his own was irresponsible, calling it “balance as bias.”

It’s impossible to imagine the big TV networks actually accepting an edict from a conservative politician to report only their side of a major public policy issue, but a new Media Research Center study of ABC, CBS and NBC’s global warming coverage finds the networks are giving Gore practically everything he demanded. Not only does nearly every global warming story exclude any contrary voices, but the coverage of Al Gore personally has been exceptionally positive as well.

MRC analysts examined all 115 news stories that dealt with global warming from January 1 through April 15 on NBC’s Today, ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS’s The Early Show. These morning news programs had a combined audience of more than 13 million during the first three months of 2007. Unlike the networks’ evening newscasts, the two- and three-hour morning shows have longer segments that should (in theory) make it easier to include multiple points of view on controversial topics. But MRC’s analysts found just four stories out of 115 (just over 3%) contained any mention of dissent from Gore’s approach to global warming — and even those stories were heavily stacked in favor of his “climate crisis” position.

Or, the same media that edits photos to try and scare up as much fear as possible on the subject.

Yes, I see Karl Rove’s hand in all of this. He’s a manipulator, you know!

And in case you missed it last week (not all that difficult, what with that Rovian Media Blackout), Canada is giving serious thought to pulling out of Kyoto. (link found at CQ)

This week’s announcement by the Canadian government — that it may join a U.S.-led coalition focused on voluntary emissions cuts — could be part of a global shift away from Kyoto’s binding targets.

In a somewhat surprising development, Canada, a long-time supporter of the Kyoto Protocol, announced that it may want to join the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (AP6), a six-nation coalition focusing on voluntary emission-reduction steps and technology transfers.

Notice the end of that last sentence: “Technology Transfers”. Right now, the technology to reduce emmissions without reducing productivity is non-existant. This bothers the Kyoto-Worshippers very little, as they could care less whether or not productivity (and the jobs and communities that are tied to them) suffers, so long as they get their pretty emmissions numbers.

They sometimes try to turn in around and say that the market will created by Kyoto will drive the creation of this technology, but this is a crock of shit for two reasons: 1. The leftists do not believe in “The Market”, and 2. The wheel was neccessary technology, but the need for it did not drive it’s creation any faster.

We will discover the technology sometime, but 1st world nations should not be made to suffer and transfer their wealth to 3rd world nations while we wait.

Which is why this idea is opposed

Many environmentalists oppose AP6 out of a fear that it may undermine political support for the legally binding Kyoto treaty.

They oppose it because they’re idiots and zealots. Remember their motto: No compromise. Ever.

When you disarm your subjects you offend them by showing that either from cowardliness or lack of faith, you distrust them; and either conclusion will induce them to hate you

One of the Guys

I got an email from 1LT Chad (now Captain Chad) over the weekend.

He and his men (they’re not “boys” or “kids”) are home from Afghanistan and he and his wife are swinging through the PacNW in the next couple weeks. David and I will be meeting up with them right after we get back from Boomershoot.

Cap’n Chad sent me a link to this article.

Staff Sgt. Rashe Hall’s face was burned and his uniform was smoldering. He was bleeding, his helmet had come off and he could not use his right arm.

None of that stopped him from charging up a hill to break up an ambush in Afghanistan.

The 25-year-old combat engineer from Ventura, Calif., received the Silver Star Medal on Friday at Fort Bragg for his actions on Aug. 21, 2006. The award is the Army’s third-highest for battlefield valor.

“I looked around, and there was just so much that needed to be done,” Hall said after the ceremony. “Everything was memory and the training that we had.”

A rocket-propelled grenade had exploded near his head in his vehicle, causing shrapnel wounds and burns on the left side of his face and neck and shrapnel wounds in his right arm. But he refused medical assistance to help a medic treat wounded soldiers.

The 525-soldier 27th Engineer Battalion recently returned from a year in Afghanistan. The airborne combat engineer battalion stood together in formation Friday for the first time in a year, said Lt. Col. Tom O’Hara, the battalion commander.

Brig. Gen. Karl R. Horst, the deputy commander of Fort Bragg and the 18th Airborne Corps, pinned a Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart on Hall.

Thirty-two soldiers received awards on Myitkina Field in the battalion area on Gruber Road. Purple Hearts were pinned on 24 soldiers who received combat wounds.

Although they were attacked many times, the battalion had no soldiers die in Afghanistan during the past year.

Now would be the appropriate time for you to thank your preferred diety for that.

Click the above link and read the rest of the article. SSgt. Rashe Hall’s humility would make the Dali Lama check his own.

Cap’n Chad sent the link along with the words “One of the guys”. I know and you know that these men are professionals, but if Chad deems SSgt. Hall as the mean, then even we are seriously underestimating our own warfighters.

As you’ve read in the article, 32 soldiers were decorated that day. Cap’n Chad lists them as 24 Purple Hearts, 1 Silver Star, 3 Bronze Stars with Vs, and at least 15 Army Commendation Medals with Vs.

I know a big RNS thank you will be passed along when he goes back to Bragg. You all know how to leave any messages you’d like to have passed along. I know that they’ll be appreciated.
