I Had Completely Forgetted

TheBadIdeaGuy reminded me about how the State of Pennsylvania considers the Gadsen Flag as a symbol of domestic terrorism. Scroll up to the top. Yeah, that right there.

Feel the terror?

Anyway, he went a-historical-landmark visitin’ and discovered that the Valley Forge National Park Visitor’s Centor is a hotbed of domestic terrorist activity. Or at least it should be considered as such what with them having a number of “symbols” for sale there.

Well holey shee-it, if I didn’t go out to my vehicle so’s I could head off to work on Monday and I ended up havin’ to call the Pennsylvania State Police to tell them that a terrorist must have been driving my vehicles.

Not only was there a symbol of domestic terrorism on my Jeep

P1010002.JPG

But apparently there is something called The Naval Gadsen on my F-150

shooter-jack-sticker.jpg

Finding the the Pennsylvania State Police’s phone number was a royal bitch, but as a fine and upstanding citizen of Washington State, I wanted to do my duty.

They told me that if I called again, they’d call the police local to me to come and talk to me. I guess to investigate local domestic terrorism or sumpin.

Oh, and because I like talking about Buddy, I have found his future front bumper

XJdefender2.jpg

The winch will be mounted on a hitch post, so a 2in receiver will be added to its purchase before it is coated in “RhinoLiner” type material.

They also have his future back bumper w/tire carrier and some of the strongest rock rails I’ve seen around. Yes, I’m reconsidering my choice of shocks for the very near future suspension lift.

Invade My Property

Please!

That is what a number of local folks are demanding after the murders of a grandfather, grandmother, son, his wife and their two children by the son’s sister and her boyfriend in the town of Carnation, WA on Christmas Eve.

Here’s the scenario: 29 year old daughter lives in a mobile home on the parent’s property with her boyfriend of five years. She feels that she is being “pushed out” of the family for unknown reasons, so her and the boyfriend walk to the parent’s home and murder the parents. Her older brother, his wife and two pre-school aged children arrive for Christmas Eve dinner, interrupting the sister and boyfriend’s attempt to hide the bodies, the sister and the boyfriend kill all four of them execution style before going back to their trailer. The bodies are discovered the day after Christmas by a co-worker of the grandmother’s who stopped by when she didn’t show up for work. The daughter and the boyfriend are arrested two days later and at least one of them confesses to the acts.

Before the brother, his wife and their children are executed, someone is able to call 911 on the land line of the home. The answering operator hears what sounds like shouting and music (party noises) before the line goes dead and all attempts to reconnect to the house are unsuccessful. Two Sheriff’s deputies are dispatched to the home to investigate the “hang-up call”. They arrive within 30 minutes to find a locked gate and, being able to see the house from the road, see no signs of anything requiring police action and move on to other 911 calls.

This is a link to yesterday’s Seattle Times Letters to the Editor. Each LttE that focuses on this topic basically says “A 911 call means drive around my gate and/or kick down my door, do whatever you want to investigate the non-situation you see.”

I’m sorry, but the murders had already taken place by the time of the deputies arrival, as evidenced by the murderers available time to lock the gate. Could they have arrived faster, possibly, though that area of the county is rather rural and currently there is absolutely zero evidence that they could have. Either way, the fact that so many people want the police to start violating their property rights to investigate what just as easily could have been someone hitting the wrong speed dial number is disgusting.

“When seconds count, the police are only minutes away” is the most important thing to remember. “I’m from the government and I’m here to help” is the most frightening thing a government employee could say to you.

Granted, the way that the law regarding 911 calls in Washington State is written, once a call originates from a building the police have the legal authority to force entry to investigate said call. Likewise, with proof of a 911 call placed in the residence, officers can not be held liable for damages to property and most property rights violations, just the cost of defending against those claims has got to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions.

But this demand for overt protection is just simply baffling, almost to the point of me wanting to question the ability of those demanding it to live by themselves.

Unfortunately, it is looking as though the two deputies will be put on leave and probably disciplined for their act of respecting a citizen’s property rights.

Hello 2008!

And good riddance to 2007.

Oh-Seven was not a very good year for me.

Oh sure, I survived (which is an oddity in and of itself), I got to spend almost the whole month of October with my wife, my mother-in-law beat her cancer, David and I had some good blog posts and even got to hang out and send a good amount of ordnance downrange at Boomershoot, I got a new “never sell” vehicle in Buddy the Jeep, and my music collection expanded exponentially.

But still, the last 365 days were moderately disappointing. You see, I lost something last year, and it is not my fault that I no longer have it.

I lost my country.

I know that may sound a bit strange, because what I really lost was my perception of what the United States of America was “To Me” in particular, but I almost feel as though it has been taken from me. My only reason for saying “Lost” instead of “Stolen” is that I cannot find the thief.

It wasn’t “The Left”. The only thing they know how to steal is my money to waste on their stupid pet projects.

It wasn’t the MSM. They may have lied to me, cheated me out of the real news and slandered people I care about, but I know their tools and the marks my particular thief left don’t match.

It wasn’t anyone in the government in particular, though I have a bit of a want to blame the Bush Administration. However, while they may have attempted to give me security while sacrificing my liberty, which I didn’t ask for them to do, I’m more apathetic to the actual acts themselves than pissed because they woke up a whole slew of Americans to the point that the government is not to be trusted. Not that these newcomers deserve a whole lot of credit, the signs have been there since FDR (actually since the 1760’s, but I digress). Hell, I’ve been annoying history teachers with these “signs” since junior high school.

Which is another reason that I cannot blame “The Left” for the theft. While they may go on and on and on about civil liberties this and that, they still beg, nay, demand that I give more of my freedom and money and privacy to the government so that I can have that which I already own, namely heath insurance, so that some loafer who is too lazy to get a job and get his own insurance can go to the doctor for free when he ODs. They say everyone should be equal, but they never tell you that what they actually want is everyone equally miserable. They are, plainly and simply, too stupid to steal my country.
We’ve got an national election starting in a couple of days, and out of eight or so major candidates from either party, I can only find one whom I can trust, and about all he could do is hold the ground for his first four, with hopefully some rearward pull in his second term. The rest are either devout Soviet-style socialists, Christian Socialists, egomaniacs who feel it’s their “turn” or just batshit crazy.

When you have pride in your country you instill a bit of it within your soul and your identity. That is what I’m finding misplaced.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still very happy to live here and am honored to call myself an American, but the “Last Best Place” feeling is fading rapidly. Since there is nowhere to go from here, it kind of puts me into a corner, where I absolutely do not like to be. I suppose I could go to that place on the eastern shore of The Med, but they’ve got this whiny sect of Islamists constantly trying to blow themselves up in public places, and I can’t stand the heat (that’s why I live in the PacNW). But that is OK because if I’m reading the signals from The Wife correctly, a move to Israel is completely out of the question.

I guess I now know what being in a malaise feels like, and it sucks. No wonder you all dressed so funny in the 70’s. fashion suicide is much less painful than the real thing, and you can laugh at it in 10-15 years.

Get ’em while they’re hot

And still easily found.

Kevin at The Smallest Minority is has his site’s Year in Review post up, so if you misplaced a link you found there or haven’t been reading TSM throughout 2007, this would be a rather wise time to stop by.

The track is 4 minutes long, so hitting play with three minutes to go in 2007 should be just about right

Enjoy and have a happy New Years celebration.

If there is one thing I know about (Bandwidth Blowout)

It’s garbage.

Whether its the stuff you set out at your curb for the guys in the trucks to pick up or it is the “science” that constitutes the basis for the shrill whining of the Global Warming Death Cult and their paid liars, you need to remember that there is a reason you should keep it at arms length. And I’m not talking about the “smell” either.

Mark Philip Alger has what could be called a statisticians takedown of the information the GWDC uses to scare your children and wreck the nation’s economy.

Try not to get too overly angry with the eco-socialists; They’re just lazy and looking for the easiest way to take over your lifestyle.

Planet Music – Danny Byrd/Adrock/MC Foxy

Don’t let this stop you from downloading the track, but this but of tunage could virtually serve as the UN’s theme song. Well, except that they’d spend $1.5 Billion dollars on composing it, the copyright would be broken by the Chinese who would vote against condeming themselves for it, and of course the electricity used to power the studio where it was recorded would have to be the product of third-world child labor.

Important Action Alert (Bandwidth Blowout)

That was what the leftards at MyDD would call the blog posts they’d toss up whenever the folks they “got elected” weren’t doing exactly what the leftosphere wanted them to do.

It looks as though the Paulistinians have actually perfected the practice what with them showing up whenever “The Only Man Who Can Save America” has something to say.

Hell, the item the alert is about doesn’t even have to be a reality to get them in a huff.

Ron Paul said the decision to exclude him from a debate on Fox News Sunday the weekend before the New Hampshire Primary is proof that the network “is scared” of him.

“They are scared of me and don’t want my message to get out, but it will,” Paul said in an interview at a diner here. “They are propagandists for this war and I challenge them on the notion that they are conservative.”

Paul’s staff said they are beginning to plan a rally that will take place at the same time the 90-minute debate will air on television. It will be taped at Saint Anselm College in Goffstown.

They’ll be there alone, seeing as how the “debate” in question has been cancelled for weeks.

I guess that if you’re gonna be a freak, you might as well be the best freak you can be. Sounds to me like Paul is attempting to become “The Smartest man in America”. I just hope he never finds out how well that ploy worked for Hillary.

Those poor dumb bastards

End of the Month (and Year) Bandwidth Blowout

So I’m putting my waders through their paces at the dKos Animal Farm and Petting Zoo when I run across a very strange, and more than a bit hateful, post on “Circumstances, Shmircumstances” by someone calling themselves “altruista”.

In what could be described as, well, whining to and fro, “altruista” attempts to make the case that the majority of “The Poor” are that way because the world is against them and not because they are lazy. Intermingled with that is the diarist’s notion that the rich are the true parasites of society, especially the “trust funders” and inheritors of wealth.

Apparently lost on “altruista” is that trust fund babies and the like are usually more liberal/”progressive” than even the “most royal” of the welfare queens.

So if you want to see some poorly thought out ranting against “Ayn Rand wannabes” where the poster even ingnores a reality check from a somewhat recent immigrant, then this is your link here.

The closing line is as follows:

Saying you don’t care about circumstance is like being 75 miles out to sea in a leaky boat, and saying you don’t care about water.

Caring about water would be a waste of time. I’d be caring about my ability to float and/or swim. Caring about water is a misplaced priority and would be akin to being the subject of a firing squad and worrying about that the blindfold was too tight and the cigarette wasn’t your preferred brand.

But then again, leftists could never analogize for shit.

Circumstances are and should be considered simply as obstacles or opportunities. use them or lose them.

But by far, my favorite circumstance is this one, by my three favorite Canucks.

Circumstances – Rush

There’ll be tunage tomorrow as well. A very special end of the year edition of the bandwidth blowout.

Enjoy and see you then.

In Memorium: The Booty Eulogies

Some folks who haven’t been with RNS for the whole ride have sent in questions sine the sad news of his passing as to just how I met The Professor.

Seeing as how it is the last weekend of the year, and that I still haven’t gotten anything from any of the ladies who are on the list of eulogy submitters, I guess it would be appropriate for me to fill in the blank at this time.

It is a relatively simple story: Professor Booty was dating an ex of mine, and was reclining at her place when I stopped by to grab the last of my shit from there.

E20.jpg

She was a psycho bitch from hell, and when he came to this conclusion himself, he made a point to contact me and let me know that she, being single again, might be calling for a hook-up.
With such an unusual gesture, I made sure that we met up and from there on it was great beer, even better tunage, a few car mods (he was pushing a Lexus GS 400 at the time) and it became somewhat of a mentor/student relationship.

I’d made a couple visits to the University over the years, but never after my wedding vows. When I made mention that I had become one of those infernal bloggers, he suggested I let him put up a couple of posts so as to class up the joint. Nukevet Neal gave me the thumbs up and the rest, as they say, is history.

I’ve been missing the guy since before I heard the news of his passing. It has been quite strange not having the weekly emails and I’m even finding myself getting misty over the lack of those calls at all hours of the night and day (he never was one for wearing a watch).

So long my good man. We’re missing you.

Hey, at least Ammo is Cheap

Really! You just need the right perspective. Ammo is actually cheaper now than it used to be — even when you don’t adjust for inflation. From an article by Massad Ayoob in the current issue of Backwoods Home:

As I write this, a copy of the 1986 Gun Digest is sitting next to the computer on the desk where I’m working. It lists 115 grain 9mm full metal jacket ammo at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $22.50 for a box of 50 cartridges. Today’s price for the same stuff is $16 for twice that amount? Let’s have a little perspective here. The same publication lists .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) jacketed hollow point (JHP) defense rounds at $26.05 for a box of 50. Today, just outside Chicago, I spotted Winchester USA brand 230 grain JHP at a bit less than that for the same sized box at a Dick’s Sporting Goods chain outlet. 21 years of inflation later, I can’t honestly complain about that.

You used to be able to buy a 100-round pack of 9mm WWB for $10.97 at Wal-Mart, before sales tax. It has, at this writing, shot up (no pun intended) to about sixteen bucks…. I understand the sticker shock. However, I’m also old enough to realize that this isn’t price gouging, it’s simply an indication that the gravy train American shooters have been on since the generic ammo price wars started is simply rolling to a halt. (…)

A lot of folks who came into shooting in the late 1980s and later have been spoiled. This was the time when Pan Metal Corporation (PMC) of Korea stunned the US market by importing cheap, generic, factory fresh ammunition that dramatically undersold the cartridges produced by our indigenous ammunition industry. In desperation, the local companies fought back with their own generic ammo, creating a price war from which the American shooter has benefited hugely.

Emphasis mine. He’s right. I have some old Gun Digests myself, and prices were higher back then.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the ammunition you can buy now seems to me to be just plain better. Certainly since the 1980s, and even since 1992 when I bought my first firearm and a few boxes of Black Talons. Bullet design alone has made leaps and bounds in the last 20 years.
