Winners and Losers

Recent elections both here and afar have left us with some very clear winners, such as the re-elected Mayor of Irvine, TX, Herbert Gears and the newly elected Mayor of Farmer’s Branch, TX, Tim O’Hare, both of whom ran on very pro-enforcement of immigration law platforms.

And thankfully, they have also shown us some very clear losers

Gordon Brown, Ken Livingstone and 300 Labour councillors were not the only casualties of the local and London elections. No one seems to have noticed, but the other big losers were those people who care about the environment.

We might just look back on May Day 2008 as the moment when the power of green politics peaked and went into reverse.

My most humble apologies to Mr. Grice, but I do believe that the facts show that the only big losers were people who over-hyped, over-taxed and over-legislated the Global Warming Myth for their own gain of either money or power.

John McCain in my state today, flapping his ignorant mouth about said Myth to try and gain favor with some fence sitters here, as it is looking like Washignton may actually be a battleground of sorts for the middle of the road voters.

Also known as roadkill.

Just in case osmosis doesn’t work

The Portland Public School District is going to force feed all the bad things whitey has done to the chilluns

Text fills in history of Oregon’s racist acts

Portland Public Schools is poised to adopt a new curriculum today, making the district the first in the state to use a textbook exploring Oregon’s racial history.

“This is not your traditional Oregon history kids may have learned in social studies class in fourth grade,” said Marcia Arganbright, district director of curriculum and instruction.

“Beyond the Oregon Trail: Oregon’s Untold History” is one of four books recommended for eighth-grade social studies classes.

Arganbright said the district did not seek out a curriculum that dealt with racism but found that “Beyond the Oregon Trail” accomplished the district’s major goals: highlighting Oregon history and analyzing various perspectives of historical events and issues.

It took the book’s three authors nearly a year to take a topic that makes most adults uncomfortable and create language and content to suit the 13-year-old intellect and emotional maturity.

Because unlike those in the Seattle School District, repeating “Only white people can be racists!!!1!” over and over just wasn’t acceptable to the more mainstream PTA members.
I would like to see if the topic of taxpayer funded reparations is mentioned anywhere in the book, or in the teacher’s syllabus. My $20 bet is going towards that it is a suggested topic of discussion somewhere in the book.

Not a bad idea if I do say so myself

Restraining orders should come bundled with carry permits and firearms training.

Good News for the Democrats

Apparently, the self-esteem building industry has hit paydirt with a key Dem demographic:

The mentally ill

“Until now, the acceptance of mental illness has pretty much stopped at depression,” said Charles Barber, a lecturer in psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. “But a newer generation, fueled by the Internet and other sophisticated delivery systems, is saying, ‘We deserve to be heard, too.’ ”

About 5.7 million Americans over 18 have bipolar disorder, which is classified as a mood disorder, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Another 2.4 million have schizophrenia, which is considered a thought disorder. The small slice of this disparate population who have chosen to share their experiences with the public liken their efforts to those of the gay-rights and similar movements of a generation ago.

Just as gay-rights activists reclaimed the word queer as a badge of honor rather than a slur, these advocates proudly call themselves mad; they say their conditions do not preclude them from productive lives.

Mad pride events, organized by loosely connected groups in at least seven countries including Australia, South Africa and the United States, draw thousands of participants, said David W. Oaks, the director of MindFreedom International, a nonprofit group in Eugene, Ore., that tracks the events and says it has 10,000 members.

Great! Fighting the stigma that crazy people are, well, crazy. Perfect Democrat tactic.
This is worse than putting only the skinny funhouse mirrors along the halls at a weight watchers convention.

It’s not like they were actually speaking truths to the potential primary voters.

I hope.

It is irresponsible to be pretending to people you can erect new protection, new tariff barriers around your economy in this 21st century global age and still succeed in sustaining peoples’ living standards and jobs. It is a mirage and they know it.

Gettin’ High(er)

What with the arrival of my stimulus ribbate funds to top off the funds necessary to remove the training wheels from Buddy the Jeep, over the weekend I did my duty as a citizen and paid off my credit card before driving down to my favorite local tire shoppe who still has no website (name and address available upon request for South Sound tire shoppers).

The results are hard to discount. (click to enbiggen)

P5100004.JPG

Savvy click to enbiggeners will notice the conversation starting Peace Through Superior Firepower sticker in the rear side window of that last pic.

My selection was the 265/75-16 Hankook M/T, which is an “E” rated copy of the Goodyear M/T tires, and a replacement for the factory rubber on the Dodge D-2500 and the Chevrolet C-2500. The “E” weight rating means that the steel Cragar wheels will now most likely fail before the tires will. That was part of the calculation in my tire size selection.

The “E” rating does effect the ride of a 3500lb Cherokee in ways it doesn’t a full size 3/4-ton truck, though not all of them bad, and some of them accountable to the mud terrain nature of the tires. At $106 per tire, I could finally get off the training wheels while saving up for a set of regular pavement use Cragar V-5 rims and Yokohama A/T-S tires that I have found also work well in the snow and light mud.

As for the remainder of the ribbate monies, I have no plans to buy any new firearms as I have no firearms on the “Need List”. Said list is instead littered with needed items such as gun parts, loaded ammunition and reloading supplies. So have no fear, the firearms industry will feel the wrath of my purchasing power.

As will my savings account and the local precious metals dealer. Just spreading the monopoly money love around a bit.

What do you do

When the Bill of Rights negates your court case?

If you’re the self-righteous City of New York, you ask that the court to outright ignore the Bill of Rights

Lawyers for Mayor Bloomberg are asking a judge to ban any reference to the Second Amendment during the upcoming trial of a gun shop owner who was sued by the city. While trials are often tightly choreographed, with lawyers routinely instructed to not tell certain facts to a jury, a gag order on a section of the Constitution would be an oddity.

“Apparently Mayor Bloomberg has a problem with both the First and the Second amendments,” Lawrence Keane, the general counsel of a firearms industry association, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, said.
The trial, set to begin May 27, involves a Georgia gun shop, Adventure Outdoors, which the city alleges is responsible for a disproportionate number of the firearms recovered from criminals in New York City. The gun store’s owner, Jay Wallace, says his store abides by Georgia and federal regulations and takes steps to avoid selling firearms to gun traffickers. Mr. Wallace’s store is one of 27 out-of-state gun shops sued by New York City, and the first to go to trial.

City lawyers, in a motion filed Tuesday, asked the judge, Jack Weinstein of U.S. District Court in Brooklyn, to preclude the store’s lawyers from arguing that the suit infringed on any Second Amendment rights belonging to the gun store or its customers. In the motion, the lawyer for the city, Eric Proshansky, is also seeking a ban on “any references” to the amendment.

I guess that if you don’t believe in a civil right, this would be your natural course of action.

I await Bloomberg’s declaration that the 13th Amendment does not apply to the City of New York and begin he confiscation of 100% of wages to fund his future idiocy. However, this will have to wait until his proclamation that NYC gets one million billion electors and any election for the nation’s Executive Officer that does not go his way is illegitimate.

Ain’t that a shame?

I’ve been annoyed at this advert hyping the Global Warming Myth.

There was another one out as well, featuring tax evader Al Sharpton and Pat Roberstson, but that one was shown to induce blindness, so I’m not going to waste my time or yours by posting it.

What really bothered me about this wasn’t that Gingrich has either fallen for they hype or is at least laying along with it (though that is thoroughly annoying).

It was that unlike Gingrich, Pelosi is actually in charge of one half of a branch of government. Little Miss Bubbly could actually do something about this issue that she supposedly cares so much about, but would rather giggle and smile and tell us private citizens to “do something about it” instead.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m glad she is too stupid to figure this bit out. But having the current Speaker of the House of Representatives tell my fellow citizens that she is powerless really gets my blood up.

Thankfully, a release valve has been given to me: Laughter

A television ad in which the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and a former speaker, Newt Gingrich, warn about the dangers of climate change may violate federal election law, according to two campaign finance lawyers.

The spot, which shows Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Gingrich seated on a couch in front of the Capitol, is being questioned because the California Democrat faces a primary election June 3 in her San Francisco district.

“It’s prohibited,” a Republican campaign finance lawyer, Jan Baran, said. He said the ad constitutes a “coordinated” expenditure on behalf of Ms. Pelosi’s campaign by the group sponsoring the ad, the Alliance for Climate Protection. Any ad of that sort distributed in a candidate’s district within 90 days of a congressional primary or general election is deemed a campaign donation, Mr. Baran said.

“She’s in the ad. That means it’s coordinated,” a Republican attorney who battles to overturn campaign finance laws, James Bopp Jr., said. “I’m a guy that specializes in loopholes. I don’t know of any loopholes.”

Just the thought of Pelosi being caught up in a pseudo-scandal of this nature make me smile, since she voted for McCain-Feingold. Though I seriously doubt that the leftsosphere will rail against this thumbing of her nose at said law, once again showing their hypocrisy.

“Hi Mom!”

Ahh yes. The only thing people can think to say when a TV camera gets stuffed in their face.

I’m off to The Mom’s place to take her out for breakfast, so do wonder at this question:

Is Hillary! trying to make a self-deprecating joke by repeatedly stating that her base is bigger than Obamas?

I mean, there really isn’t any other reason that I can think of to be talking about the size of her ass.

Anyway, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there.

Turkey in the Bag

To pay a debt owed.

Congratulations to Phillipe Massa on the three-peat in the Formula One Turkish Gran Prix. But I would like to mention that if I were to cast a non-actor to play Napoleon, Massa would be my first choice. Not only does he look like the guy, but he was on the center podium and was only maybe an inch taller than Lewis Hamilton (who’s not at all a tall guy).

Personally, I think that his wins here are because of the counter-clockwise track. Meaning that Massa may have a future in NASCAR (whom I still blame for America’s turn to the left).

And to Ferrari for keeping the lead in the constructors championship. No small feat, after not having a single car finish in the first race of the season. Though, I must add that the list goes as follows: Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Renault, Honda. simply because the thought of that order was unimaginable five or six years ago.
And now, we have only two more weeks to wait until the crown jewel of Formula One: The Monaco GP.

Formula 1, keeping the pretty girls on show and champagne flowing in still secular Turkey.

Now let’s see if they can get Bahrain to switch to normalcy next year.
