Leftists have decided that the government arranging (aka: extorting) hundreds of millions of dollars to be transferred from private businesses and to private not-for-profit business via a mind-bending settlement is A-OK with them.
Radical Democrat activist groups stand to collect millions from Attorney General Eric Holder’s record $17 billion deal to settle alleged mortgage abuse charges against Bank of America.
Buried in the fine print of the deal, which includes $7 billion in soft-dollar consumer relief, are a raft of political payoffs to Obama constituency groups. In effect, the government has ordered the nation’s largest bank to create a massive slush fund for Democrat special interests.
BoA screwed up, but this settlement is slimy from top to bottom.
They like it when government controls who gets what. Even more proof is in their unabashed approval of Operation Choke Point.
Operation Choke Point was designed to scrutinize businesses that make it easy to launder money and helps to keep a closer eye on the financing of dangerous terrorist activities. In other words, President Obama is trying to keep us safer by following a trail of cash that could be used to fund acts of terror. This is, according to the Right, another power grab by the Black Socialist in Chief. If only President Obama was a Republican White Male, he would be lauded for his plan to keep tabs on businesses that are often fronts for real shady activities.
There are words to describe this kind of denial of reality, but I am not licensed to diagnose them.
Apparently, the government telling one highly regulated business they will be punished if they interact with another highly regulated business is not fascism on Bizarro World.
The early name on this show was “The Primitives,” but the libertarian in me likes “Live Free or Die” much better.
One of the show’s leads is Gabriel, whom I’ve cheekily called Tarzan of the Chumash. But I’m quite serious about that moniker. Young as he may be, he’s the most skilled primitive huntsman and outdoorsman I’ve ever met.
We were worried National Geographic’s film crew would screw this one up, but they just may have done it right.

Auditor that Accredited VA Hospitals Where Patients Died to Review Same Hospitals
The same independent auditor who accredited Veterans Affairs hospitals where multiple patients died from delays in care—and in some cases named them as “top performersâ€â€”has been chosen by the VA to complete a new review of those same hospitals.
Earlier this month, new VA Secretary Robert McDonald announced that the Joint Commission, a hospital accreditor, would review scheduling practices across the VA system.
If there is a contract in place that has caused this stupidity, it needs to be broken. Obvously, the contractor failed the first time. Maybe go for the second lowest bidder this time.
The UN “peacekeeping” troops in Syria who came under heavy fire from Islamists and had to flee to Jordan for safety?
Probably not, because they actually hauled ass across the Syrian-Lebanese border because they knew they’d be safe there.
No, no, no. They didn’t flee to Jordan or Lebanon. They fled to a place declared by the UN Secretary General to be both immoral and criminal: Israel.

The Philippine military said Monday that a UN peacekeeping commander in the Golan Heights should be investigated for allegedly asking Filipino troops to surrender to Syrian rebels who had attacked and surrounded their camp.
Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang said he advised the 40 Filipino peacekeepers not to lay down their arms, and they defied the UN peacekeeping commander’s order. Instead, they staged a daring escape from the Golan camp over the weekend, ending a tense, dayslong standoff.
I think it is a pretty safe bet that the UN knew the Filipino soldiers would haul ass to Israel and would rather get the sympathic press of having people under their command get captured by savages than have to deal with the idea that Israel is a decent place.
That we’ll have to wait until they actually start burning churches before the left will bother taking notice.
