I have a hard time stomaching Plant after the crappy performance at the Winery back in 2000-something. Left wing rants and lousy music wasn’t what I expected. He should have hung it up after the 90’s.
Robert Plant was an incredible vocalist in his day and that band he was in has imbedded itself into my DNA. Still (despite Plant surrounding himself with some of my favorite musicians) his recent projects have left me shaking my head.
I well understand a vocalist losing some range and velocity to age but that wasn’t the problem with Raising Sand and Band Of Joy. And it’s not that the music is bad. It just kind simmers along taunting and teasing the listener hardly ever coming to a real boil.
