Friday Fiction: Tremors

Since I’m still catching up on Friday Fiction posts, y’all get another two-fer. This time, since we’re in screenplay mode, you get my favorite screenplay: Tremors. The movie was fun, but the screenplay is, I think, much better. It’s a wonderful piece of work that is worth rereading from time to time. Try forgetting the images in your brain from the movie and let your mind fill in the characters as they are on the page. Not great literature, but a jewel nonetheless. In its own way, it’s a “classic” screenplay for the ages. Enjoy.

O Happy Day

It’s my birthday, and some kind soul seems to have posted the opening of my favorite childhood cartoon, Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch.

Sadly, there’s so little market share for this thing that I’ll bet the cartoons themselves are molding in some archive, never to be transferred to DVD.

Growing a Better Brick (maybe)

Pack some sand in a form, add some very common bacteria (they live in dirt), add some rather common compounds (Calcium Chloride and pee), let sit for a week, and voila’!  You have a brick, sans oven.

OK, yeah, it vents ammonia in the process, but if you stack them early, you don’t need mortar.

Still kinda cool.

World’s Strongest Vagina — NOT

I am not impressed with this video.

Look, if she’s holding in a small object to which the weight is attached, that’s truly impressive and I would pay her to do Kegel instructional videos and found a nonprofit to disseminate them free to all women for the betterment of mankind.

But it’s all too easy for her to have a rather large object inside from which the weight swings. Larger object = easier to hold in. Don’t ask how I know this. (Actually, it should be intuitively obvious to any human who’s potty-trained). Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof — she needs to prove what she’s holding on to.
Video contains no nudity (so far as I watched, which was about fifteen seconds) but subject matter may be NSFW.
