Oddly enough, it comes from across the pond, where one of the Samizdatistas watches from afar.
The lads were doing their best. If they got a bit obsessed on the question of whether Obamacare was constitutional rather than whether it was a bad idea, you can’t really blame them. Obsessing on constitutionality is what they are paid for.
In the wake of this morning’s Obamacare ruling upholding the Constitutionality of the individual mandate, I found this amusing. From Calguns.net poster dantodd:
A Proposed Individual Mandate for the Second Amendment
Yes, I am perfectly serious. Yes, I think there is a chance to make this really happen. No, I’m not thrilled that the government can mandate participation in an economic activity but that is where we are right now.
A Proposed Individual Mandate for the Second Amendment.
A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state,
As the constitution clearly states it is within the realm of the government to ensure that our unorganized militia be we regulated (or provisioned.)
As such each able bodied person above the age of 18 is hereby mandated to purchase and keep a weapon suitable for service in the militia. The Dept. of Defense shall provide a listing of the basic type of such weapons that they currently issue to our servicemen. Any individually serviced weapon, not counting sidearms and explosives shall satisfy this mandate.
As most such weapons are regulated by the National Firearms Act and many may not currently be legally acquired by the Hughes Amendment, any such weapon shall receive a tax stamp at no cost and the Hughes Amendment is hereby repealed.
Other weapons suitable for militia service shall also be granted tax stamps at zero cost. These would include but not be limited to grenades, suppressors, appropriate sidearms, and certain other explosive material.
The purchase of one mandate qualifying militia weapon per person shall be tax deductible once every ten years. As the state must also assure that the militia is well trained any ammunition purchases up to $1000 per year shall also be tax deductible.
If anyone over the age of 18 chooses to opt out of this mandate there shall be assessed a penalty equal to the average MSRP of one standard issue infantry long arm per year that they choose to not meet this mandate.
Anybody know a Representative or Senator willing to put this up?

Thank you all for stopping by today. I would like to take a moment to introduce you all to the newest member of the household.
Say hello to Missus Davenport. (click to enlarge on all)
The Wife and I brought her home last Tuesday and she has been getting to know her way around the house and yard.
She is another little mixed breed dog. Most likely what happens when a Corgi gets down with a Chihuahua. She is about the size of a few month old Lab puppy, which is the perfect size to be Gigi’s girlfriend.
He back-story is a sad one: She was hit by a car in San Bernadino and was brought to an animal hospital with a broken pelvis around the end of February. She was put back together there, and then, like Buster, she was brought north to Washington and placed in a rescue.
We found her at the Sunny Sky’s Animal Rescue in Puyallup(for non-locals, that is pronounced “pew-all-up”) which is attached to the East Main Animal Hospital. They are a “hard-luck pup” shelter and she convalesced there for a couple months before they put her up on their website.
The Firebase Blue Canine Trifecta is now back in formation and all is well.
Now, onto business. Since she was, quite literally, rescued from certain death and had no owner to contact, the name “Missus Davenport” was given to her by those helping to get her back up and walking. However, she does not respond to it the vast majority of the time. So, we are working on something she will respond to. It will probably something similar sounding since dogs really only respond to the clicks, hisses, pops, and other sounds we humans make while pronouncing their “names”. Currently, were trying to call her Miss D and hope to transition that into Misty or some such.
If anyone out there has any ideas to offer, we’d be glad to try them out a few times. So have at it.
And just as I did with the Rescue we found Buster at, I would like to recommend Sunny Skys to you. If you or someone you know is in the Puget Sound area and has the time and resources to take care of a special needs hard luck pup, they are a fine place to visit. There currently is the littlest blind Chihuahua there that I almost brought home. But between work/school/sleep, I would not have nearly the amount of time he would need.
Last week was a high mark for leftosphere video wackiness. I have collected some of them for your enjoyment.
First up, even pMSNBC is not far enough to the left for your average “progressive” these days. No, they are all tuning in to watch the news on Russia Today.
The wackiness begins before the 00:30 mark. Ted Rall gets taken seriously near the end.
Next up, we have a V-Cast by one Julianna Forlano. Made to look like a newscast (strangely, a newscast from Russia Today), Forlano attempts humor, only to end up appearing more and more spiteful as the video goes on.
She does know that her last name does not require her to wear that hairstyle, right?
This next one is a whopper. Or maybe a doozy. I can’t quite tell.
It was released by the Combe For Congress campaign and the premise is that of a twenty-something coming home and having to answer his parents about some of the rumors they’ve been hearing about him around town. It is at that time he comes “out of the closet” to his parents. Yep, he’s a Democrat. The parents proceed to weep, wail, moan and blame each other for this sad turn in his life.
While I suppose it could be funny to some, I have never particularly found the mocking of the struggle hundreds of thousands of individuals have gone through to express their sexuality to their loved ones without being kicked out of the family funny.
On a less serious note, why shouldn’t the parents be crushed? They just had their son tell them that his highest aspiration in life was to be a leech on both them and the American taxpayer for as long as he lives.
That IS a reason for an asswhipping followed by disowning.
And to cap off what I’m sure has been a fun filled few minutes of leftospheric videos for all, via Politico we see that before the President could speak at the NALEO Conference last week, attendees had to hand over their forks to the Secret Service.
If his supporters can’t be trusted with eating utensils, he is in sad shape.
In 2008, the Obama for President campaign had thousands of anonymous small denominational dollar contributions flow in. It was more than slightly suspect and probably wouldn’t pass an investigation by the FEC under a Republican held House.
Origins: On 22 June 2012 a notice was posted to the blog at BarackObama.com notifying readers of the Obama Event Registry, a mechanism allowing users with upcoming special events (such as birthdays, anniversaries and weddings) to register and express their preference for friends to send donations to the Obama re-election campaign in lieu of presents.
Do keep an eye on your name. You may discover you have “friends” donating to his campaign under your name. The one the campaign pulled from a list they bought. Or “borrowed” from the IRS.
Rather than wondering “What would have happened if there wasn’t a gun in the house?,” most liberals will surely be thinking “Why did this teen have access to a gun? Shouldn’t the parents be punished?”
