Well… if you say so. I’m not going to toss out TL;DR, but this seems a bit… well, long winded. It comes off as someone working to convince me (or even themselves) of a failing. There is something to be said for concise, precise arguments, after all.

Well, the thesis, when he gets to it, is that as your work and personal social media identities blur, indeed are increasingly expected to be transparent to each other, what you do in your personal life becomes limited to what’s socially acceptable for your employer to see/approve.

I can’t wait till Facebook dies a screaming plague ridden death. Interesting article in TechDirt about how the East German STASI collected metadata and used social media analysis: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20140228/15025026393/you-know-who-else-collected-metadata-stasi.shtml
Of course they were helped immensely by the hundreds of thousands of East Germans who helped report om each other, for a candy-bar or a pack of cigarettes, the most banal conversations were monitored and sifted for anti-gov. sentiment and blackmail worthy dirt.
Blogging and Linked-In is as close as I come to “Social Media” and now that I’m retired I’m going to cancel the Linked-In account – as far as finding work or networking went, it was never a success or worth a dried fart anyhow.
