House in a Can

I like this idea for a retreat.

Even better, the can-in-a-can model. Fill the gap with insulation and you’re fireproof, quake-proof (mostly) and comfy, without all the radon issues from going underground.

Plus, it looks like a grain silo. Nobody looks twice at a grain silo.

    Seems like it would get hot. Do you need insulation under the roof, or some way for it to breathe? (I ask as someone with no familiarity with grain dryers).

    I’ve often wondered how much it costs to put up a warehouse: the metal beams + siding and a flat roof with sky lights, the type that BJ’s, Sam’s Club, and other box stores use. Seems like it would be easy to build 20 homes in one big warehouse.
