AR Pistol Why? Here’s Why.

“Small, obscenely light and quick, powerful, effective to carbine ranges, and legally concealable as a pistol.

Emphasis mine. Not legal for me here in carry-permitless Alameda County, but it might be legal for you, dear reader.

I’ve been toying with the idea of an AR pistol in 9mm. Oly Arms makes a lower that takes Glock mags. Give it a laser, and skip iron sights. Maybe try out the Sig “AR Pistol Brace”…

Cool, but unless you’re running a suppressor, why drop down in power to a 9mm? Never quite understood that.

It’d be nice if there were an AR pistol upper in a larger caliber than .223. 6.8 SPC or whatever the new-fangled round is.
And don’t go on about the “well, you can go up to .308 Win. if you get that ‘pistol’ posted a couple of weeks back’. Dropping $2k on a .308 pistol isn’t in my price range.

I have seen 45ACP carbines (JR Carbines, I think) that take the 27 round Glock mags, but I would love to see an AR pistol that takes Glock mags. 45ACP out of a 10.5″ barrel or so…that sounds good to me, like a modern semi-auto Thompson. I don’t see how 45ACP is a step down from 5.56 when you get into shorter barrels.
