My New Favorite App

A couple weeks ago UCSD Lecturer Brett Stallbaum released an Android App that “Geolocates Dangerous Guns and Owners”.

Geolocation means marking dangerous sites on the App’s map so that you and others can be aware of the risks in your neighborhood.

The Gun Geo Marker operates very simply, letting parents and community members mark, or geolocate, sites associated with potentially unsafe guns and gun owners. These locations are typically the homes or businesses of suspected unsafe gun owners, but might also be public lands or other locations where guns are not handled safely, or situations where proper rights to own or use any particular type of firearm may not exist. Electronically marking these locations can help others in the area learn about their geography of risk from gun accidents or violence. No matter what your safety concern with firearms might be, you should feel free to use this tool to provide the most accurate information you can such that others can make their own safety decisions.

But Phil, why would this be you new favorite app? Shouldn’t we just ignore this pissant goober?

I’d agree with you, but I’m having too much fun geo-marking places I think anti-gun people should avoid. Like local police stations and courthouses. And grocery stores like PCC, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Also, local parks and libraries. I should have enough geo-marks set up at the University of Washington campus that the sheer number of alerts they’ll be getting will make them have to shut their phones off.

I’m sure I’ll get bored and uninstall it sooner or later, but I am having a good time finding new and wonderful places to scare anti-gun folks.

A good tool for a burglar.

It helps him avoid armed homes.

So if I’m CCWing… “Oh crap! There’s a dangerous gun owner RIGHT HERE where I’m standing! Better mark that!”

    Take one step… repeat.
