The silence is deafening.

With respect to the California Democrats’ announced package of radical, crazy, out-there gun-control bills (most of which I’m betting will never make it out of committee, btw) Gene Hoffman noted:

You[‘re] missing the absence of something. That absence is the attempt to ban handguns. That silence is deafening.

Overreach will make challenging semiauto rifle bans easier. Prevailing on those takes [them] off the table – just like handgun bans are now off the table.

Do you get it? Heller worked.

Earlier in the same thread, Gene noted:

Overreach makes the court cases to take this crap off the table much simpler. We’d prefer to hold the line here and we will all be working toward that when bill season is upon us in California. It is not.

I swear – some morons who know nothing about guns but love the press say stupid crap and gun owners go all a tizzy. Our side is going to be “dropping shoes” all year and each day we get further from December 2012, the better the environment gets for civil rights.

A victory in the legal case that is the semi-auto-rifle counterpart to Heller will take semi-auto bans off the table, just as Heller and McDonald took handgun bans off the table while defining the “Keep” portion of “Keep and Bear Arms” in the 2nd Amendment.

But before that, we need to get “Bear” nailed down, that’s the right-to-carry cases in the pipeline now.

The occasional commenter asks why I’m still in California. There are lots of reasons, but as a gun owner it’s because here is where the bad laws are made that will ultimately result in good court cases that eliminate arrows from the antis’ dwindling quiver.

Battle cry: Eureka!

And because of good lawsuits, it’s even possible that IL will be going Constitutional Carry in June.

I wonder what will happen in Chicago to the crime rate if that happens? I’m sure it’ll be fun to watch.

I assume the Illinois legislature will pass some kind of bill before then, if only to create a permit fee so they can extract a bit more cash from the citizens of the Land of Lincoln…
