Two Thousand Rounds

Following Boston’s admonition to turn ammo into knowledge and experience, the wife and I are about to expend most of my remaining stash of 9mm in LMS Defense’s two-day Pistol I course. We took this class a couple years ago; long past due for a refresher.

She will be using our Glock 19s; 3 magazines minimum for the class, and I could only find 5, so she gets them all, and my Glock will be her backup. I pulled the Beretta 92FS out of storage since I have plenty of mags for that. DA/SA FTW, dammit!

Class is at Sac Valley so we’re staying at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento, across the way from Phlegm Park, home of the homeless when I interned in the Capitol nearly two decades ago. I spotted the lobbyists as soon as I walked into the bar: still soulless, animated husks trying and failing to look glamorous. That’s not Sac, sorry.

Dinner at the Grange. The trout is the best I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve had a lot of trout.

Tomorrow it’s hours of pistol drills.

Tonight it’s a delightful ahi tartare, Four Roses, and to bed.

Hope you and the wife have an amazing time. Tell Josh hi for me.

    So how did it go?

Bobby, it was great, and Josh & Scott remembered you and said hi back.

Mollbot, this was the most valuable training my wife and I have ever received. Among many, many, other things, I learned in about as definitive a way as you can get that for me, the Glock 19 is a far superior gun in my hands than my beloved Beretta 92s. That was worth the price of admission.

  4. Mollbot says:

Sweet. I can’t enjoy shooting a Glock though I know many do.
