As several comments on their promotional video mentioned, that is a very low-quality, uncovered engine block they’re shooting at and they don’t really let you see what kind of range they’re firing from.
I’d be interested to hear results from a slightly more useful test… something a bit more Mythbusters style, if you will. Running engine in a more-or-less intact car, etc.
