Finally, some sensible talk on the “Citizens United” decision from constitutional lawyer, Michael Carvin, in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee this week.
He owns this room so well, that even the Committee’s Chairman, Senator Patrick “Leaky” Leahy, had to award him the the prize of “the highest level of sarcasm we’ve heard before this committee in a long time.”

Carvin is the sort of guy who sounds like he knows his stuff well enough, and is so smart, that the density of his seeming off-the-cuff remarks pack a LOT of information that you really have to focus on, and already have some knowledge of so you get the references, to even begin to understand it. Fun to listen to, but it’s work to listen to. Not at all like the painfully stilted and tired rhetoric that the lady following him started to read.
