Range day

That is my brother shooting something that David might recognize. Phil brought it out to function fire. I am happy to report that she did just fine. All three of us were ringing a small gong at 200yrds with iron sights.

Oh, and Phil and I zeroed our Boomershoot rifles to 200yrds while we were there.

When I first saw the picture it looked like the spotting scope was mounted on the rifle.

Very nice! I have missed her. She is a sexy beast of a rifle. http://www.softgreenglow.com/wp/?p=8152

Were you using my magazines? My brother tossed out some of the same batch as he was getting a bunch of misfeeds in his SOCOM II. I hadn’t had any problems with them myself.

We only ran 3 of the mags and they were fine. I have been trying to decide on a .308 battle rifle for a while. Your rifle may have sold me on the Socom II. But they aren’t cheap and they aren’t light!

You know, the Socom and the full-length Garand are about the same weight, but to me the Garand feels lighter because it’s balanced better.

I really, really like the Kel-Tec RFB as a concept, but I haven’t handled one enough (grumble grumble when is the Cali Assault Weapon Ban getting overturned, again?) to say how it compares to the Socom. It’s about the same weight but from what I recall the compact size meant it felt heavier even at the same time it was handier to maneuver.

My Strad, of course, is handier still with the stock compacted. http://www.softgreenglow.com/wp/?p=7033

Of course it’s hard to shoulder and fire accurately without a stock….

If Dave from Michigan brings his .308 AR to Boomershoot, we can have a side-by-side handiness comparison of all three at Trib’s.

The Kel Tec RFB looks pretty sweet. I just don’t know too much about the accuracy and reliability of Kel Tec rifles. I have a little P3AT .380 for my wife. But that is really all I know of the company.

I’m waiting for more barrel choices for the RFB. The promised 26″ and 31″ target barrels have yet to appear.
