Sno-M-G: The Big Thaw

With the thermometer edging over 32 degrees, and the rain finally arriving, it appears that Snomageddon is almost over. Except that it’ll only get to 38 degrees today and the winds are supposed to come back. Heavy ground saturation, heavy winds, and iced over tree limbs/power lines don’t make for a good combination .

Anyway, here are some pics I took from the back yard while feeding the dogs. Click to enlarge on all, of course.

Look, you can almost see through the stairs! With the previous winds, that was a very short toboggan ramp just yesterday.

Last night there was about five minutes when it sounded like my neighbor’s house was getting demoed. Look for the vertical branches (they’re big enough you can see then despite the distance). Luckily, it didn’t take out his fence.

We didn’t used to have the gaps between the Cedars like that. But they’re young and will grow back.

More of that tonight and tomorrow. We’ll see if the lights stay on. We’ve been lucky so far. On the other side of the county line, about 500 yards away, they’ve been dark for almost 24 hours now.
