No Sheepdogs

We’re rapidly heading for a world in which the whole wolves/sheep/sheepdogs = bad guys/innocents/good guys paradigm breaks down.

Instead, cops are properly now seen by civilians as threats. They have the capacity to kill you, and sometimes do. Threat does not = sheepdog. Threat = wolf.

As concealed-carry continues to sweep the nation, cops rightly will tend to see civilians not as sheep to be protected, but as threats. Same analysis.

Wolves vs. wolves. This will not turn out well.

I went over to the KXTV website and they link to a copy of the warrant. I’m sick to death of these armed to teeth S.W.A.T. entries to serve warrants on non-violent, non-criminal households with BULLSHIT excuses regarding investigations about which they oh so conveniently cannot release any details.

In both this case and the horrendously botched Pima S.W.A.T. debacle that resulted in the murder of Jose Guerena, a tiny bit of competent surveillance and intelligence work would have shown the target homes to be low risk. In both instances, the man of the house could have been detained by a couple uniformed officers as he left the house to go to work, the store, on an errand, etc, and the warrant could have been executed by a pair of detectives. This would respect the 4th Amendment, provide much greater safety for citizens and peace officers, and would stop driving a wedge between respectable citizens and peace officers whose duty it is to uphold the Constitution and enforce our laws. In both these catastrophes for individual liberty, there was no reason for the authorities to unholster a pistol much less utilize a dynamic entry team with long arms.

As a liberty loving American, and a decorated veteran who swore his own oath I don’t believe I can sit idly by while out of town thugs (not my local Police Department or county Sheriffs Office) storm a neighbors house with no explanation given to the surrounding citizens. And, by the by, if some black clad, balaclava wearing, armed and armored cretin claimed to be from the Department of Education – Office of the Inspector General, I probably would have told him I was Command Chief Lieutenant General of the Coast Guard, and I demand to speak with a REAL sworn peace officer pronto before I call my acquaintance, the FBI special agent!!!

Sitting idly by while these atrocities continue invites authorities to abuse such actions. If they can find judges with such poor or biased judgment to sign these warrants, how likely is it that judges could be found to sign warrants based purely upon political expediency? Have we already lost our liberty? Does one dare to become a Tea Party official? Would one dare to sue the Federal government regarding the constitutionality of Obama care? Can one participate in a peaceful demonstration against government policies or leaders without covering ones face in a mask like some brave but fearful youth in Tehran? Are any or all of these actions now an invitation to have ones home invaded by armed jack-booted thugs?

I’m afraid they have crossed the Rubicon on this one. It’s getting very close to the time when that tree of liberty Jefferson wrote so eloquently about must be watered.

    Be Prepared!

    What’s this rightly bullshit?

Rightly, they should see CC’ers as assets: people who can protect themselves and who can maybe sometimes back them up in a pinch. People who make their jobs easier because they’re certified non-bad-guys.

When they take an us vs. them, thin blue line, the public is the enemy and “we’re the only ones” approach, they are thinking and acting wrongly, against all reason. And, as you said, that will NOT turn out well for them, as the police are outnumbered (and since this America, outgunned) by the public they see as a threat.

Wolves vs. wolves has a better chance of a happy ending than Wolves vs. Sheep.

Time to wake up cops and politicians – you are rapidly losing the trust of the public.

  4. Losing? I’d mostly lost. I’m just wondering when that loss of trust will transition into active reformation or revolution.

  5. Davidwhitewolf says:

Rob, my understanding is that police today are trained that anyone or anything with the capacity to do them harm should be considered a threat. Very well then; what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

  6. Davidwhitewolf says:

To parallel the phrase in the post, CCWers indeed have the capacity to kill cops. If that’s all that’s required to be considered a threat, then nobody can be considered a sheepdog.

  7. AnejoDave says:

As long as they see me as a threat, I will act accordingly. As long as they are willing to act violently at the slightest provocation, I will give full reciprocity. As long as they have no accountability for their actions, I will assume that they will only act to benefit themselves financially, materially, sexually, etc.

All that said, learn the proper ways to commit contempt of cop and get away with it. To do so successfully to an officer that is a bully is highly entertaining and gives instant gratification. Even more so when the prosecuting attorney’s office wants nothing to do with the officer’s bogus report.

My family is more than capable of protecting ourselves against the wolves. I came from a long line of sheepdogs. The line still holds and will until the day in which we are no longer necessary.

@AnejoDave – Got any good contempt of cop suggestions? There should be a good list somewhere. 🙂

    I don’t believe it’s wolves vs. wolves.

It’s still wolves vs. sheepdogs, except that cops have decided to become wolves themselves. They are no longer on our side, and we are no longer on theirs.

Yes, this WILL end badly for decent people.

You can best learn how to deal with cops (short of shooting them on sight) by reading Boston T Party’s excellent book YOU AND THE POLICE. It is an absolute MUST read.

All those years of role-playing and F.A.T.S. simulators where the correct response to the sight of a firearm in the hands of anyone not wearing a badge is to hysterically shriek “GUN!!! GUN!!!” and empty your Glock into the target are coming home to roost.
