On the Road to Boomershoot: Sparks, NV

Looking back at the Sierras, which I crossed last night. Onward to Orofino!

This Excursion is a much better ride than the Toyota pickup from previous trips. Roomy doesn’t begin to describe it. Very relaxing to drive.

    Plus it makes hippies wail!

It can’t be relaxing to pull into a gas station these days. Are you dropping into neutral on every downslope?

I like my diesel – the Jetta got ~51 mpg on the last little road-trip / speed-run I did. Make the slightly higher price per gallon much easier to bare. On my last high-speed run to eastern WA, going for speed and not efficiency, I managed to get it down to ~49. I figure it’s saving ~ 20 gallons of fuel compared to the minivan…. so I can buy more raffle tickets at the dinner.
