What Media Bias?

NPR’s Steve Inskeep has a op-ed in the WSJ today — claiming NPR is not biased, because, gosh, lots of conservatives listen to it — that immediately brought to mind the phrase “methinks he protests too much.” Fun fisking here.

Much of the bias on NPR I’ve heard (when I do listen, which is only for a few minutes every morning) is of the “throwaway line” sort — like I heard on CBS News Radio’s hourly update last night on my way home from work:

…others are worried about increasing violence between Israelis and Palestinians. A bomb went off in Jerusalem today, killing one person.

That’s not a direct quote, because I didn’t record it, but I can tell you I made some biting comments towards the radio in my truck in response.

I suppose Pearl Harbor was an example of the worrisome increasing violence between the US and Japan. Jesus.

Oh, and this Reuters bit is priceless.
