SHOT Stuff to look at part 1

Just the first in a series of helpful memos to myself on what I want to see when we visit SHOT Show 2011. Last year I was overwhelmed as a first-timer and ended up just wandering around and saying “OMG” to myself a whole bunch, which was awesome but not productive.

Glock .22 LR conversion upper from Tactical Solutions (As we’re switching to being a Glock family from a Beretta 92 family, the wife and I will be VERY interested in these).

Quiet training ammo from Ultimate Training Munitions (There’s a rumor that the range a couple miles from my house CLOSED FOR THE WINTER???!!! which they’ve never done before, and it’s not like we get snow or anything. WTF? Thus being able to quietly shoot targets in our garage — or even back yard — would be useful).

I have heard that some of the .22 conversion kits out are not compatible with the new Gen4 Glocks. Maybe the fine representatives at SHOT can clarify this point for me?

I have been very interested as well in compiling a family Glock “system” including pistol caliber ARs. My carry is now a G26 full of Winchester Ranger 124 grain +P+. But, the G29SF looks so sexy to me!

What’s the plan for your 92s? Might be able to adopt another one (2, 3, …)

Not sure at the moment. One, a gold-trimmed beauty nicknamed “Beauty,” was my first present to my wife. I’ll probably hang onto them for a bit. Nothing’s the matter with them except the wife likes the light weight of the Glock (and admittedly it fits her hand much better). I love the 92s though. We’ll see…I’ve a track record of not selling my guns, and that’s a hard habit to break.
