How else to explain that a Taiwanese single-malt beat Scotch premiums in a blind taste test?

MacTarnahan’s in Oregon is distilling a Single Malt that gets raves. I haven’t had any since the first release, which was only 4 years old, but they must have a 10 or 12 out now.

My latest rave is Jura 15, reasonably priced at under $100, in fact, their 12 can be found under $50 occasionally. The Doctor Daughter is driving back from NV-CA Tahoe in a few days, thanx for reminding me to IM her and have her pick up a bottle for me.

Whiskey is a huge family of liquor.

Scotch, Bourbon, Irish Whiskey, Canadian Whiskey, Tennessee Whiskey, all have good points.

That the Taiwanese can churn out a good whiskey is not surprising. That it is beating out “premium Scotch” is also not surprising. Many “premium Scotch” brands are meant to be distinctive, not necessarily drinkable.
