The Soundboard: Back to Blues Edition

Had to put the bass drums to bed for a while and wandered to the Derek and the Dominoes Live at the Filmore album.

I went looking for that version of this track, but couldn’t find it. This one will do well enough though.

It is a little known fact that the reason behind the long outro on the live versions of this song is because Clapton has a gauge he wears on his wrist that tells him how close he is to spontaneously converting to pure rock energy (which is what actually happened to Freddie Mercury). Once he pegs the gauge he has to simmer the energy down or risk a flash cavitation.

Yes, Rock is like steam.

In this version he doesn’t peg the gauge quite as hard, so you need to go buy the Filmore album.

While we’re cooking here….

From here.

Enjoy!
