GBR V Megaposts Coming Up

…but I just spent an all-nighter and most of today rewriting arbitration agreements, so you’ll have to wait.

In the meantime, here’s my homework assignment given at GBR V by Steve, Mr. Black Ops himself. Cool guy. Did I pass?

At last year’s GBR IV, more than one gunblogger IIRC fancied the lovely and talented young Liz, but I don’t recall anything coming of it, which was likely a Good Thing for all concerned as Steve is her father and the sort of fellow who knows people who can arrange to have someone flown across the oceans in the middle of the night and dropped on an airfield in [unnamed country] without a passport. “Do you know how difficult it is to try to get out of [unnamed country] when you’re a white-skinned foreigner with no passport?” said he with a grin. Don’t mess with Steve.

    Aperture Research and Black Mesa?

  2. guy says:

    Oops, Aperture Science…..

Making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS!

Guy, you’re correct. Steve and his family were laughing about some in-joke about a video game and at my blank look he suggested I look up Aperture Research & Black Mesa. At which they all giggled some more.

I’ve deliberately kept myself from playing any video game since 1996, so this is all Greek to me. Although a game with this much developed backstory sure sounds like a lot of fun….

If nothing else try Portal. That’s the game that involves Aperture Science. It’s not terribly long and it was a blast. The entire game is riddled with really pitch black humor. I was laughing my butt off through the whole end boss fight.

  6. Steve says:

David: Very well done … and timely, too. Always remember: The cake is a lie!

I must say that I enjoyed meeting you and your new Glock Aficionado (She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed) at the Rendezvous. Hope to see y’all up here soon for some extra-curricular fun and games (wink wink, nudge nudge) i.e. turning green pieces of paper into noise.

  7. Liz says:

I guess next year I will have to come out to the range with everyone. And I agree with Guy. I think it takes maybe 3 hours, if you’re slow and look at everything, to play through Portal. And it’s fun. And the cake is a lie.
