Free from dialysis, that is. As I’d hoped, Monday was not only McDonald day but also my day to confirm that my kidneys are back to close-to-full function. I have a follow-up test Wednesday and if that goes well I’ll have surgery Thursday to remove the dialysis catheter from my chest (which means I’ll finally be able to take a shower!!!).
Silver lining to almost dying: I’ve dropped twenty-five pounds and have radically changed my eating habits for the better. My 1- to 2-liter/day Pepsi habit has been well and truly kicked, and this renal diet they have me on for now is curiously close to Atkins, except you have to limit your salt. Prior to all this I was scarfing fast food twice a day. No more!
Woohoo! Congrats David!
I am so glad to hear you are doing better!
Good news indeed, thank God!
Glad to hear you’re doing well!
