District 13: The Protector

I haven’t seen the first District 13 movie, but the wife and I just watched the sequel on Comcast’s On Demand, and it’s not bad. Decent extended parkour / combat sequences. I understand the inventor of parkour is involved. Something about the direction reminded me of the best unedited extended fight sequence I’ve yet seen. Here it is, from Tony Jaa’s The Protector (Tom Yum Goong):

So…. no one had a gun?

Well, that part of the film took place in Australia, so the lack of firearms actually made sense.

Banlieu Treize, as an action, fighting, and parkour flick, is simply awesome. As a movie as a whole… it is decent. Unfortunately, the voice dubbing blows, so captions are somewhat required (unless you are fluent in Parisian French).

That is to say the original was that way. Good to see that the sequel probably kept the same gestalt :).
