So When I Played AD&D by Myself, I was Forming a Gang of One?

Court rules inmates may be prohibited from playing D&D because, among other things, it’s structured like a gang and “promotes gang activity.”

Not a 9th-circuit opinion, amazingly enough. Obviously we don’t yet have enough geeks represented on the bench.

    How can you enforce it?

The PSU student council tried to stamp it out in the student org office spaces downstairs by banning the dice and figures … the wargaming student org it was targeted at made a point of playing loud all night session, with nary a scrap of paper, pencil, or book in sight.

Everything was tracked in people’s heads.

Random rolls were done in binary with a set of coins.

    Said rule went away quickly.

The rule was made in a prison. Enforcement was carried out in the usual manner, I assume. Seems to have been effective, since the guy sued to get his stuff back, and just lost.

Kind of think the ruling is silly, but the guy murdered his sister’s boyfriend with a sledgehammer… so he’s not exactly getting tons of sympathy from me.

Unless the boyfriend had stolen his lucky die, or something, I mean.
