R.I.P. RBP

Robert B. Parker died. Jerry the Geek has a good remembrance. I agree with him that Early Autumn is his best work. That book helped me grow up in a lot of ways.

I’m a Bostonian born and raised… Early Autumn was even required reading in my high school… though by then I had already red every Spenser novel.

Pauls story is not an unfamiliar one to me lets just say.

Yeah, he became a bit of a hack a while back… I still read every one as soon as they came out.

  2. Agreed. I like to imagine that Spenser actually died in Sudden Mischief, and everything after that is just the fading neurons firing off pleasant adventures.

Incidentally, assuming Romney gets the nomination in 2012, would you vote for him? IIRC you were in Boston during part of his tenure and the result was you aren’t too fond of him….

  3. And yeah, I’m always astonished to find yet another reasonably well-adjusted adult who survived a horrible childhood. Seems to be quite a few of us out there.

Lets just say I fall somewhere in the middle of Spensers collection of fucked up childhoods.

As to Romney… It really depends. I’m not that fond of him true; but I would vote for him under certain circumstances.

I would NOT vote for John McCain again. Nor would I vote for say… Carly Fiorina for senate, even though she’s running against Boxer.

Romney, I would vote for against any democrat at the moment.
