RNS Quote of the Day: 09/12/09

Some folks just never learn.

The more we progress the more we tend to progress. We advance not in arithmetical but in geometrical progression. We draw compound interest on the whole capital of knowledge and virtue which has been accumulated since the dawning of time.

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle

If our “capital of knowledge” tells us that socialism doesn’t work, why do people keep insisting on the re-running the “do it again, only harder” theory?

Bad education can’t explain it all away.

  1. Mollbot says:

I think it has more to do with the power of faith.

Ages ago, faith was in an “Almighty Providence” even if (like some of the founders) the people were agnostic.

Today, faith in “Big Brother will save us” seems to have taken its place, for a lot of people.

  2. Anthony says:

People are pack animals, and when faced with freedom but the responsibility that goes with it, they cannot overcome their natural instincts.

    Theory of evolution.

  3. Gerry N. says:

I’m a people and I want nothing to do with socialist governments and their policies. ‘Splain that.
