We’re celebrating! The wife and our nephew (daughter and grandson, respectively, of illegal immigrants from Mexico legalized by Reagan’s amnesty) are honoring Cinco de Mayo tonight by going out to our favorite local Mexican restaurant, Anita’s Taqueria.
That’s not to stop me from observing that Cinco de Mayo celebrates the successful resistance of Mexico against its creditor, France, who’d invaded to collect the debt.
The relevance of this scenario to today’s events is left as an exercise for the reader.
