Warning — Nasty Cold

It’s not the flu, but whatever cold virus is out there right now is a humdinger. I picked it up last Wednesday, had to take part of Thursday off, and my wife and I were both out of commission for the entire weekend.
Stuffy head, headache, and lots of coughing and sneezing up nasty-looking phlegm, but that’s it — no fever, no chills, nothing “major” — still, whatever this “cold” is, it’s the roughest one I’ve encountered. And I’m sure the fact that I’m turning 40 this year has absolutely nothing to do with it. 🙂

I’m ambulatory again, but still coughing up and snorting out the occasional bit of nastiness, probably for another day or so. Be careful and wash your hands, folks!

Yep, CDC confirms you suspicion that colds and flu are worse this year. There are persistent Upper Respiratory Infections which seem to be at least twice as transmissible as before, and the prevalent influenza was NOT the one that the flu-guessers prepared the vaccine for, so try not to get the flu.

Here in very bourgeois Multnomah County, we look down upon our lesser neighbors, so Columbia County to the north gets dumped on, and the unofficial name for the prevalent URI is the Columbia County Crud.
