Energy!

In heavy rotation on our local dance station is the below track, which I can’t get out of my head. Imagine my delight to discover the video is as compelling as the song itself. You can never get too much gyrating eye candy, that’s what I say.

At a couple of points in the evening they played this song at the 2008 Energy 92.7 Anniversary Blast which was quite the party. Sadly, I screwed around to the point that we arrived about an hour later than I wanted to, so we missed the sub-headliners I wanted to see live, Ercola and Bellatrax.

The venue was, once again, very kewl:

A chain of speakers, like a rack of ribs or segment of vertebrae, hung above the crowd on each side of the stage. Impressive and bone-thumpingly effective.

Here’s a shot of the crowd and one of the djs between the headliner acts:

Lady GaGa (looking very drag-queenish, as is her schtick, despite being a genetic female), had a great set, but she finished with a stage-dive (apparently something she does often) and in this very drunk crowd maybe that was a mistake…. You could see her dancers’ faces contort in horror as they saw her sink, and sink, and sink… when they hauled her out of the crowd, one of her legs looked broken as they carried her offstage with haste. 🙁

Next up was Cyndi Lauper, and I had to admit she did a great job as well, despite the fact that I don’t care for almost all of her songs.

In all, this annual event more than lived up to last year’s moniker as the “Monsters of Dance” event. Multiple headliners and excellent up-and-coming acts, all on one ticket in a fantastic venue.

My wife said that the crowd was less attractive this year than last. Her solution will be to drink more next year so folks look hotter. 🙂
