Those are FDR’s unemployment stats. In two terms as President, his dismal policies actually extended the suffering of the nation.
FDR made America worse in many ways, but one of the worst was brainwashing people into believe that they couldn’t succeed without the help of government.
Those unemployment numbers would probably have continued to stay at those levels except that WWII came along.
I have to respectfully disagree. IMHO, Woodrow Wilson edges out FRR.
Consider that he violated our neutrality wrt to the dynastic fight in WW-I. He also ran for re-election on the strength of having kept us out of that fracas. After re-election, it was heigh-ho, let’s go. Our participation in the war led to much of the later unpleasantness. Also, he instituted all sorts of authoritarian controls that were useful to that other democrat. Also, he was the originator of the League of nations, the predecessor of the UN. In short, he prepared the field for FDR.

I too respectfully disagree.
Just as I don’t blame jack Daniels for the drunk driver or S&W for the criminal, I cannot blame a predecessor for the actions of a tyrant, which is what FDR was.
