I predict VPs

I would dearly LOVE IT if Obama picked Biden for his VP, as seems to be the buzz since Biden was summoned to Georgia. Does no one recall why Joe B. left the race in 1987? I was a youthful Biden supporter (forgive me), perhaps the only one in Oregon that early in the race. Oh, the pain of finding out your guy is a fake. I remember it well.

But actually, I think Obama will pick Hillary. He needs to re-energize.

As for Our Side, I think McCain will pick Rudy Giuliani. Post-Heller, I got no problem with that. Two American Heroes (TM) vs. a neophyte and a crook. Works for me.

Um, I thought I would hold my nose and vote for McCain, but if he pulls something like that I will have to reconsider.

  2. David says:

Yeah, but who else should he pick? I can’t think of any of his other possible choices that realistically help him win — and he needs the help. And I say this even as I still carry a torch for Fred Thompson.

I am still holding out for what I, personally, think would be the dream ticket.

    … 😉

  4. Some Guy says:

There’s a rumor floating around the internet that Obama’s advertising firm has registered obamasebelius.com and nothing else.

  5. Rivrdog says:

Got to go with the conventional wisdom, David. With Hillary, you get Bill. Obama does NOT want Bill in any way, shape or form.

If he picks Hillary, it’s only because he’s struck some sort of an unholy deal with the Clintons, and he plans only to be a seatwarmer for Hillary in 2012, and will serve only one term.

  6. David says:

Hope you’re right, RD. Obama-Clinton would be a very tough ticket to beat.

  7. Army of Dad says:

The problem with Giuliani is that he weakens McCain big time. McCain is already more liberal than any other Republican in the last 20-30 years. The last thing he needs is someone more liberal than he is. He does that and he just shot his campaign full of holes. Holes that will never be plugged-solid conservatives simply will not pull the lever for that ticket and in this race he needs his base more than ever.

  8. David says:

    Army of Dad,

Of course that’s true, Giuliani would open lots of holes with the base, but I’m thinking that unlike 2000 and 2004, this election’s going to be won by stealing votes from the other side, rather than appealing to the base.

OTOH Giuliani now seems to be out as McCain’s campaign (though not McCain himself) have strongly signaled that the VP pick will be pro-life. Which means Romney or perhaps Portman or Pawlenty.

I’d have trusted Giuliani more on RKBA because of his “conversion” to true believer on the basis of the Heller lower court decision. Romney OTOH says he believes in the 2nd Amendment but gosh darn it would still sign an AW ban. So let’s hope for Portman or Pawlenty.
