Say hello to state enabled identity theft.

A USB drive that was dumped at a yard debris recycling company had a big surprise inside – old Oregon Department of Motor Vehicle records with tens of thousands of names, birth dates and home addresses.

You never can tell where the state ends up putting its thumb.

    It gets worse: these data stem from a day back when the OR DMV would actually SELL the entire database to whoever came up with their price. There are many, many of these digital lists around.

    I’m lucky, in those days, I was permitted to put my work address on my DMV papers. So, they can clone the ‘ol Rivrdog, but they can’t find me…
