Jealousy, Permitted

So, last week I get an email from The Mom about the visit I was to make this last weekend. Apparently, The Step-Dad had acquired a new toy, but that she was not permitted to tell me what it was. Since they live within two miles of Cabelas, it could have been just about anything, so my anticipation level was right up there.

Let’s just say that when I arrived, I was impressed. And now you can be too.

Cabelas had only received two Chargers and by the time he called they only had one left. And they wanted around $325 for it.

However, and a little oddly, local small shop Federal Way Discount Guns (who really need to enter the digital age so I can link  to them) had gotten six Chargers from Ruger. However, they too only had one left by the time he called. They only wanted $285 for theirs (it is not unusual for them to beat even the big box stores on price, which is why I want to link them), so he had them hold it for an hour while he drove up there.

He has a Bushnell 28mm Red/Green Dot optic on it. It is actually the exact same one that will soon grace the top my 1187 so I can move the EOTech elsewhere.

The Step-Dad already has his order in on the Ruger LCP, and when he gets that in I’ll tell y’all how that went shortly thereafter. Btw, David, he says we can take the Charger to Boomershoot and play with it if’n you want.

Looked at the sight, some of the reviews didn’t look too good as to longevity. Any experience on this? After the “It’s Marvelous!” piece of crap from Pentax last year, i worry about that.

I have the same sight, but have only used it on a .22LR so I can’t comment about its durability. I kind of want to put it on a Russian M44, but they have a pretty stout recoil & I am concerned about how well it will hold up.
I would be using it in various vintage rifle matches, so can’t afford to have it crap out in the middle after I drove 3 hours to get there.

I sure wish someone would chime in with a report on the durability (or lack of) before I commit myself.

Woo Hoo! Definitely interested in shooting that bad boy at Boomershoot — especially because as a magazine-fed semi-auto pistol with the magazine outside the pistol grip, they’re of course illegal in CA. (Aaaugh!)
