No Blood for Carbon Footprint Shrinking

Alternate title: Green or die!

Any good leftist will thell you that it is the Republicans who want to tell you what you can do inside your own home. They maybe right about one or two bits of policy, but the Repubs will never get them enacted.

Unlike the good leftists friends in government.

In Berkeley’s green future, there will be no incandescent lightbulbs, Wedgewood stoves or gas-powered water heaters. The only sounds will be the whir of bicycles and the purr of hybrid cars — and possibly curses from residents being forced to upgrade all their kitchen appliances.

Six months after Berkeley voters overwhelmingly passed Measure G, a mandate to reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050, the city is laying out a long-term road map for residents, business and industry. It includes everything from solar panels at the Pacific Steel foundry to composted table scraps.

Moonbatologist Claire has a list of things that the plan includes here. Items such as

Residents will be told exactly how many carbon units they’re generating based on the cars they own, the distances they drive, the waste they generate and the energy they consume

No incandescent lightbulbs, Wedgewood stoves or gas-powered water heaters…

Landlords will be required to provide free bus passes to tenants

A car-share vehicle on every block

Ain’t life grand in Berkeley! Even Natural Gas is a faux pas.

I guess having a generator for the rolling blackouts would be a ciminal offense and storing food and water for emergencies will be seen as gluttony.

And they voted it upon themselves.

…but when their foolishness results in an unliveable city, they will ask the taxpayer-funded government of either (or both) the State or the County to bail them out of their jam.

    Any bets?

Another possibility: the rich upland sections in the hills will now want to secede from the city and be disincorporated.

When my city, Gresham, got into a fight with the greedy County gov’t over the County’s hijacking of $6M in business income tax receipts, all that had to happen to get the County to wave the white flag and fork over the dough was that 5 businessmen got together and pledged $14,000 to hire a good attorney to see about the city seceding from Multnomah County and joining Clackamas county.

The good lawyer reported that it was easy to do under the Oregon Constitution (easiest 14 large HE ever made), and the County gave up the fight.

Could happen in Berzerkley as well.
