Sanitsuda Ekachai, a columnist for the English-language newspaper Bangkok Post, wrote recently, “This national religion campaign is taking place amid widespread paranoia within the clergy against Islam.”
After months and months of attacks on Buddhists in the southern part of the country by militant islamists, the government of the 90% Buddhist nation want to put their foot down, right in the faces of those who would kill them for not converting to Islam.
As well they should. Even in the best example of Democracy, the majority doesn’t have to stand for a murderous minority.
