The professional-looking fellows at this position were very friendly and noticed my interest in the middle rifle in this pic. It wears a Knoxx SpecOps recoil-reducing stock. There was an article published in The Varmint Hunter magazine just prior to Boomershoot describing a version of the Knoxx stock on a Howa 1500 in .223, resulting in the shooter being able to see bullet strikes. Useful for varmints and boomers alike! IIRC the rifle shown was a Remington 700 action, but I don’t remember the caliber.

David, I have made use of Knoxx stocks on shotguns, and Chris Byrne from Anarchangel has the shotgun incarnation of the SpecOps on his Mossberg. They are quite impressive in recoil control. I can believe that .223 boltie in one would allow a shooter to maintain his sight picture all the way in.
Thanks for the photos, it looks like a helluva time.
The interesting bit is that the Varmint Hunter article AND the SpecOps website only discuss their “CompStock” for the Howa/Vanguard and Remington actions. Their SpecOps stock appears to only be available for Remington shotguns. Yet here’s the photographic proof….
