*&^@#@%^&!

Mr. Completely informs us that the Washington State Senate Bill 5197 (the anti-gun show bill I spoke of so heavily) was passed out of the LCR&D Committee and is now sitting in the Rules Committee.

It appears that they have changed the language a litle bit (old bill pdf / new bill pdf) by taking out Section D of the old bill making an auction held by a non-profit NOT a gun show (because it clearly is not one).

However, the rest of it is there.

They refused to listen to the will of the people who showed up for the hearing wishing to be heard at a 20 to 1 margin (anti SB-5197 and pro SB 5197, respectively).

More letters. More phone calls. And possibly another trip to Olympia to sit in with the Rules Committee.

After scanning the members of the committee, I cannot see any obvious anti-gun votes there, but it is 15 Dems vs 9 Repubs. I’ll be doing more research and getting back on this tomorrow.

I’m also sure that the same groups who showed up in the Senate will be giving notices about the time and date of the meeting. Watch this space for further notices.

  2. Evil Conservative says:

It’s been my long belief that Washington will be the first state to fully ban guns.

I also believe Washington be the first state that the first shots fired in anger against the government will be heard. It will be due to the banning of guns.

  3. Good news, Phil! I talked to Senator Clements this morning, and he says that the bill will never come out of Rules. Too much opposition to it from not only Republicans, but a lot of rural Democrats.

    …… Mr. C.
