Just a Warning

My employer decided to issue a facility-wide warning on Thursday and Friday, concerning the game today and work tomorrow.

Regardless if you’re a football fan or not, you can help your team win on Monday by ensuring you come to work well rested and alert. Don’t le an unwise action such as celebrating too much ruin your team’s efforts towards being safe and responsible.

There were five paragraphs on the sheet that was attached to our paycheck envelopes, four of them can be whittled down to one single sentence that is much easier to understand and would have wasted less paper

“Don’t come to work hungover on Monday or you’re fired!”

Sometimes I really dislike working for an international corporation.

So what’s the difference between a hangover, and:
    – a headache ( we all get them )
    – a cold ( we all get them )
    – a lobotomy ( managers all get them ) ?

A hangover is self-inflicted. My department has to deal with this every day and it is a huge pain in the ass. But then, who else is going to run the lifts for the pittance we pay.

Your point? Oh, I get it. Mgmt may fire your ass because you did something of which they don’t approve, not because your performance suffers.

I call bullshit. If Mgmt asks you to stay away because you’re hungover, they should ask you to stay away for any other condition that renders you less than optimal.

Hangover IS a medical condition, regardless of whether it is self-induced or not.

If you’re hung over, call in sick. don’t diagnose yourself and say you’re hung over, just give your boss the symptoms. If he/she is curious enough, they can direct you to a doctor at company expense.

For next time, remember that hangover is caused by cheap booze. You don’t buy cheap R/X medicine to put in your body, or food from a Dumpster, so don’t put cheap booze down your gullet, either. If you can afford the loss of those brain cells, at least be good to yourself and kill them with something at least 12 years old.

    Or drink Everclear.
